In an effort to gather public input on the search for the next Superintendent of Schools, the Fall Church City School Board recently wrapped-up six public hearings and an on-line survey on the qualifications and characterisctics for a superintendent. In total, more than 550 individuals, including Falls Church parents, school employees and community members, responded to the School Board's survey and those results are now available to the public.
The Falls Church School Board continues its national search for a successor to Superintendent Lois F. Berlin who will retire at the end of June 2011.
“The strong public response is indicative of our community's support for education and the importance of this decision for our entire City. Thank you for taking the time to share your views with us,” said School Board Chair Joan Wodiska. “The wealth of feedback will be extremely useful to inform the Board's search for a new superintendent.”
The School Board retained the services of the Virginia School Boards Association to assist in the search. Applications are due January 7th.
