At its organizational meeting for the 2009-2010 school year, the Falls Church City School Board reelected Ron Peppe as its chairman and elected Joan Wodiska to serve as vice chairman. The change in leadership came last night, on the same day the new board took office.
Peppe has served as Falls Church City School Board Chairman for the past year, and served as vice chairman of the board the previous year. He also has prior school board experience having served for several years on the Frederick County (Maryland) School Board, part of which time he served as president.
Wodiska became a school board member in July 2004. She has served on the board’s English-as-a-Second Language Advisory Committee, the Family Life Education Advisory Committee, the Special Education Advisory Committee, and has served as the board’s legislative liaison. She also serves as Chairman of the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Northeast Region.
In addition to electing a chairman and vice chairman, the Falls Church City School Board also set its calendar for the coming school year. The board will hold its regular meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 8:00 p.m. in the Chambers at City Hall.
Prior to regular meetings, the board will conduct work sessions beginning at 6:30 p.m. Work sessions on alternate Tuesdays will be scheduled as needed and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the FCCPS central office conference room located at 800 Broad Street, Suite 203, Falls Church.
