Services & Policies

Attendance - Parents need to notify the school in writing or by telephone at 703-248-5641 by 9:00 AM if their child will not attend school that day or will arrive late.  This helps the school verify that the child is in the parent's care and has not had some mishap on the way to school.

Cafeteria - Students may purchase lunch from the school cafeteria.  A debit account system is available for student use.  Menus are posted on the FCCPS Web site.  Students also may bring  lunch from home and purchase milk from the cafeteria.

Clinic - Children must be kept home if they have communicable diseases or do not feel well enough to participate in normal school activities.  School personnel are not permitted to administer any medicine without a signed release of liability from a parent or guardian.  In the case of prescription medication, a written prescription from the doctor is also required.  Forms are posted on the FCCPS Web site.  Medication can only be accepted by the clinic when it is brought to school by parents or guardians.  It cannot be sent in student backpacks.

Day Care - Extended day care is available for Mt. Daniel KG and first grade students from 7:00 AM until school begins and from dismissal until 6:30 PM.  Parents have the option of using day care services on professional days and during spring and winter breaks.  During the summer, day care operates a program at Mt. Daniel.

Transportation - Bus transportation is provided for all preschool, kindergarten and first grade students.  Bus schedules will be available for parents in the middle of  August.  Bus service is different for the first two weeks of school.  See the Starting School section of this Web site for more details.

The Elementary Parent Handbook has more detailed information about school services and policies.  Each family will receive a parent handbook on the first day of school.
