Kathleen Halayko -- Principal
Mrs. Halayko began her career at Mt. Daniel in 1988.
She worked as our speech and language pathologist until she began her new
job as principal in 1998. Her office is home to a large hippo collection.
Students come to Mrs. Halayko's office in small groups to share lunches
or play games with her.
When Mrs. Halayko was selected as Mt. Daniel's principal, she felt as
if she had won a prize. Mrs. Halayko was honored when the Mt. Daniel staff nominated her for the Washington Post's Distinguished Educational Leader Award. She received the award in November of 2003. Mrs. Halayko loves her work and extends a warm welcome
to all of our Falls Church families.
Kristen Cunningham -- Assistant Principal
Mrs. Cunningham’s career began after she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at The College of William and Mary. She taught kindergarten and second grade in the Williamsburg and Alexandria school districts. During her teaching tenure, she completed her Master’s Degree in Education Administration and then served as an Assistant Principal in Fairfax County for five years.
After taking several years off to be home with her three children, Mrs. Cunningham is thrilled to be able to work at Mt. Daniel as a part-time Assistant Principal. She plans to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for learning with students, staff and parents and is looking forward to a great school year!
