HOME OF DANNY THE PURPLE HIPPO |
|
| Danny's Story: Our first grade students study Africa, and the hippo is an African animal. The first stuffed hippo was purchased at a yard sale by teacher Carol Monsess many years ago. He is the much loved senior member of the Mt. Daniel hippo collection. He was joined in later years by Danny Jr. and Danielle, other stuffed hippos. The Danny replicas greet visitors who come to the Mt. Daniel lobby. The large sculpted hippo is seven and one-half feet long! |

| Library Hippos: The library has the school's largest hippo collection. There are dozens of Danny replicas, and more arrive regularly from the family and friends of the Mt. Daniel librarian. A special collection of miniature hippos is displayed on the checkout counter of the library. The counter is just the right height for our students to see all of the little Dannys. |
