Bb3_2The Mason boys’ basketball team and its fans trekked two hours away on Saturday, February 25 to Eastern Mennonite University for the Region Championship.

The Mustangs knew that they faced tough competition; coming into the game their opponent, Dan River, was undefeated at 24-0. While the two teams had already been guaranteed a spot in the State tournament, they both still had a lot to play for as their seeds for States would be determined by this game.

GM LogoIt wasn't the regional finish either team had hoped for, but being runners-up is good enough to send both George Mason boys and girls varsity basketball teams to the Virginia High School League (VHSL) state tournament this Saturday. The two Mustang teams, led in scoring by Nate Ogle (left) and Stephanie Cheney, fell in the Region B finals at Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday.

Both teams will appear in the VHSL Quarterfinals. The boys will face Essex High School (22-4) and the Lady Mustangs will play against Sussex High (16-4).
