The profession of journalism is always changing, always evolving.  In just 100 years, reporters have met their audiences’ needs through cutting edge technologies and delivered their stories via pamphlet, newspaper, telegraph, radio, television, news reels at the movies, and via the World Wide Web.

The latest evolution in news reporting comes in the form of the web log or “blog.”  Not only are reporters now expected to get the facts and report them in a timely and concise fashion, but they must also serve as their own photographers, designers, editors, and producers.

Reporters must demonstrate proficiency in all areas of news production and then market themselves to media corporations.

While we have been establish online for the past twelve years, this quarter Lasso Online is taking on the next generation of web reporting and tackling the blogging world.

Each staff member will write, edit, design, produce, and manage a blog focused on one specific theme throughout the quarter.

We invite you to explore our blogs and tell us what you think.  We are allowing comments, but please follow our editorial policies.  As this is an educational endeavor, inappropriate comments will be censored or deleted.  Comments may be edited for content, length, and relevancy.

Let the blogging begin.
