The Mason girls varsity soccer team has won the Region B Championship once again. The three time defending State Champions defeated rival
The game ended with a final score of 2-1. Clarke struck first with an early goal from senior Kasey Canterbury but was held scoreless for the remainder of the game. Both of the Mustang’s goals came from junior Leah Roth.
Roth said, “Playing Clarke always gives me a rush of nerves because they are our rivals. But, this game was very important because if we lost, we would have had to travel really far for the state quarterfinal game. We knew that they were going to be out to get us and we had to be prepared. I felt like I mentally prepared myself for this game and it ended up really helping me because I scored twice. I usually struggle to score against Clarke but helping get the Regional Championship trophy with my team was an amazing feeling!”
Next for the Mustangs is the State Tournament as the team looks for a fourth consecutive and sixth overall State Championship. They will be playing the in the State Quarterfinals Tuesday evening on their home field at 6 p.m.
