Last week’s game was a tough one for the Mason-Potomac squad. They started the game full of steam-- great passing and lots of shots on net resulted in the first goal of the game at a little over seven minutes in the game by
Unfortunately, Mason-Potomac couldn’t hold the lead very long due to Lake Braddock-Marshall firing back three minutes later tying the score. The game continued to see-saw like this throughout the first, with a few penalties by both sides due to frustration, but Braddock-Marshall was able to clinch the lead midway through the first and continued to build on it.
By the end of the first, Lake Braddock-Marshall gained a compelling lead of 8-2. Mason-Potomac continued to be the underdog throughout the second, with Braddock-Marshall notching three more goals halfway through. That wasn’t a deterrent for Mason-Potomac and they continued to battle with more of a defensive presence cutting down on Braddock-Marshall’s chance to score. After the second intermission, Mason-Potomac came out with full force ready to score. And score they did. Dabao was able to net a hat trick (a player scoring three goals in one game) and Mason’s Hans Olson scored as well. Even with Mason-Potomac’s strong come back in the third, they were unable to overcome Braddock-Marshall’s early offensive attack, and the game ended 13-6.
