Reason for becoming a school board member: "I started serving on a school board in 1997 because I believe that public education is the great unifying experience in this country. I wanted to use my time and energy to support basic education. I served on that school board until I moved to Falls Church in 2004. In Falls Church, I became involved with the PTSA, and somehow ended up on a school board again."
