The George Mason JV Boys Soccer team ended its regular season with a flawless district record, not allowing a single goal from a Bull Run District foe.

The Mt. Daniel Art Show is Wednesday, May 22 from 5:00-8:00 p. m. Art teacher Jan Garrett and her dedicated team of parent volunteers have been displaying art on every wall in the school.
Mt. Daniel kindergarten students are greeting new class members this week. The baby chicks have started to hatch in many rooms. This is Darth Vader from Room 8. Some chicks hatched overnight, and others are pecking their way out of their shells while students watch.
At its Annual Gala, the Falls Church Education Foundation surprised four FCCPS teachers with a new award - Technology Teacher of the Year. The four teachers are Courtney Quinlan, Mt. Daniel School first grade teacher; Lisa Allan, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School fourth grade teacher; Michelle Janney, Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School sixth grade math teacher; Al DeFazio, George Mason High School English teacher.
TJ sent thirteen fouth grade scientists to the Science Olympiad Regional Tournament
Over the course of two days, they participated in fourteen events, which sported names like Weather or Not, Simple & Compound Machines, Mission to Mars, Build-a-Barge, Laboratory Process, Gunk, I've Got Your Number, and Backyard Botany.
Because of construction at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, there will be no access to the TJ physical site. Office and administrative personnel will be at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School from June 17 until sometime in August 2013 (TBD).
The Falls Church City Public Schools World Languages Department is currently reviewing textbooks. The following are being recommended and the public is invited to review it and provide comments for the department’s consideration:
There are only about four more weeks of school, three of which are filled with standardized testing. Virginia SOL’s take up two of those weeks, from May 20 to May 31.

nbsp;Mr. Matthew Hills was approved by the Falls Church City School Board and will be joining us starting this summer as Mason’s newest assistant principal. Hills replaces Mr. Ken Siekman who will retire at the close of the school year. Says Principal Byrd about Hills, “[he] brings a wealth of professional experience and enthusiasm to our community and I look forward to working with him.
Geroge Mason's girls soccer team celebrated their senior team members Friday night as they complete their regular season home games and begin the journey toward a sixth-straight VHSL State Championship. District play begins later this week.
Cross off buying school supplies from your To-Do List. The Falls Church Elementary PTA is once again offering school supply kits through Edu-Kits. Order by June 14 for the best pricing; the final deadline is August 6.
Mt. Daniel Family Discovery Series presented, "Science with Our Feathered Friends" featuring an evening of activities for the whole family.
We will be celebrating this week with spirit/dress-up days for students to get excited and prepared for the SOLs.

After months of preparation in PE class, TJ students completed the Mile Run today! Running a mile sounds like a big deal the first time you hear about it, but when you train with Mrs. Huber and Mr. Greiner, students learn that they can do it!
The Falls Church City Public Schools is collaborating with the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association to promote breakfast and milk for two weeks starting on Monday.
George Mason’s band and choir students’ long awaited trip to New York occurred over the weekend of April 20. The members of the two musical groups met at school at 5:30 a. m. for their six-hour bus journey to the Big Apple.
